After-school care

From the school gate to a calm afternoon routine.

Overview

After-school care covers the gap between the last bell and your evening: pickup at the school gate, the journey home or to an agreed activity, homework company and a steady snack-and-downtime routine until you are back.

The process

How it works

Each step ends with something written down, so nothing is agreed verbally and then remembered differently.

01

School-gate pickup

The carer collects your child at an agreed time and place — the pickup range is agreed in advance and written into the care schedule.

02

Homework company

Time and encouragement for homework first. Carers support routines; they do not provide tutoring or special-education services.

03

Wind-down & handover

Snack, play and downtime at home, and a short handover note so you know how the afternoon went.

The afternoon

Homework first, then wind-down

The afternoon follows the rhythm you set: homework time comes before free play, snacks follow your instructions, and the handover note at pick-up tells you what the evening should carry on with.

What’s included

In scope

Anything outside this list is agreed separately, in writing, before it starts.

  • Agreed pickup point, time and walking range — in writing
  • Homework time built into the afternoon
  • Age-appropriate snack and downtime routine
  • Same carer on scheduled days wherever possible
  • A short end-of-day handover note
Good to know

Agreements and fees

The pickup range, authorised adults and any house rules are agreed before the first session and kept in the care schedule. Changes go through the family in advance.

If school finishes early or activities move, message the carer and the change is confirmed in writing the same day.
