Background checks

The checks happen first — the matching comes after.

Overview

Every carer we propose has completed the same vetting sequence before their first family introduction. We do not shortcut it, and we do not propose candidates whose checks are pending. The verification record is kept on file and is available to your family on request.

The process

How it works

Each step ends with something written down, so nothing is agreed verbally and then remembered differently.

01

Identity document verification

Government-issued ID is verified in person or by certified video, and the carer’s right to work is confirmed.

02

Criminal-record check

An enhanced check through DBS or the local equivalent in the carer’s country — renewed per that scheme’s rules.

03

Reference calls

We call previous families or employers, and note the references in the carer’s file.

04

Record on file

The completed verification record is stored and can be shared with your family on request.

What’s included

In scope

Anything outside this list is agreed separately, in writing, before it starts.

  • Identity and right-to-work verification for every carer
  • Enhanced criminal-record check (DBS / local equivalent)
  • Reference calls with previous families or employers
  • No candidates proposed while checks are pending
  • Verification record available to your family on request
Good to know

Agreements and fees

Checks are carer-level and completed before introduction. They confirm identity and record status; they are not a guarantee of future conduct, which is why every placement starts with a trial period and a written schedule.

Families relocating between countries: tell us during the consultation and we will confirm which local scheme applies to the carer’s checks.
